Versus (vs. or v.) is used to indicate that two things are being compared or contrasted. It is often used in sports and other competitive contexts to indicate a match or contest between two teams, individuals, or other competitors.
In a legal context, v. is used to indicate that two parties are involved in a legal case or dispute.
For example, a legal case might be referred to as "Mathew v. Mithun" to indicate that the plaintiff (Mathew) is bringing a legal action against the defendant (Mithun).
