X-Linked Recessive Ichthyosis (XLRI) or X-linked ichthyosis (XLI), is a skin disorder characterized by scaly skin caused by the hereditary deficiency of the steroid sulfatase (STS) enzyme. The term “ichthyosis” is from the Ancient Greek ‘ichthys’ meaning ‘fish’.
