International System of Units (French: Système International d’unités, SI) is the international standard for measurement. SI is a system of measurement based on 7 base units:
metre (length)
kilogram(mass)
second (time)
ampere (electric current)
kelvin (temperature),
mole (amount of substance)
candela (luminous intensity)
The system also defines a set of prefixes to the unit names and unit symbols that may be used when specifying multiples and fractions of the units and specifies names for 22 derived units.
The full form of SI is Système International d‘unités
