Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is a tool to help engineers improve the safety and maintainability of critical structures. SHM combines a variety of sensing technologies with an embedded measurement controller to capture, log, and analyze real-time data. The information obtained from monitoring is generally used to plan and design maintenance activities, increase the safety, verify hypotheses, reduce uncertainty, and to widen the knowledge concerning the structure being monitored.
