Sub-Divisional Error (SDE) or Interpolation error, is a cyclic error that occurs with each interval of the scale pitch. It is a periodical accuracy error, caused by imperfections in the length of poles.
SDE is a signal error that occurs within one signal period of the encoder. The period is based on the lines or the magnetic pole pitch of the encoder.
