Storage Area Network (SAN) is a high-speed network that interconnects different data storage devices with associated servers and other computing devices, providing a shared pool of storage space. SAN uses block-level data access. SAN appears to the computer as its own storage. Each computer on the network can access storage on the SAN as though they were local disks connected directly to the computer. It is connected by means of fiber channel, which results in excellent speed and performance.
