Remote Field Testing (RFT), also known as Remote Field Eddy Current Testing (RFECT), is a testing method that uses low-frequency alternating current (AC) to detect defects in ferromagnetic materials, such as steel pipes and tubes.
RFT involves low-frequency alternating current (AC) and a probe with a transmitter and receiver coil. The transmitter generates a magnetic field, which passes through the material, and the receiver detects changes in the magnetic field.
Any defects in the material cause changes in the magnetic field, allowing for the identification of defects such as corrosion, wall thickness variations, and cracks.
