Recognition-By-Components (RBC) theory is a theory of object recognition developed by Irving Biederman, a cognitive psychologist.
RBC theory proposes that the human visual system recognizes objects by decomposing them into basic geometric shapes called geons.

Geons are simple, three-dimensional forms that serve as the building blocks for object recognition.
