Prebisch-Singer Thesis (PST) is an economic theory that suggests that the terms of trade between primary commodity exports (such as raw materials) and manufactured goods tend to deteriorate over time.
The theory was proposed by economists Raúl Prebisch and Hans Singer in the mid-20th century, and it argues that the prices of primary commodities tend to fall relative to the prices of manufactured goods in the long run.
