P R N D 2 L (Park, Reverse, Neutral, Drive, 2nd gear, Low gear). An automatic transmission functions by automatically changing the gear ratios while determining the speed and load of the engine. The park or P mode locks the transmission mechanically thus restricts the movement of the car in any direction. In Drive mode, the transmission will automatically shift through all the gears. In 2nd gear (2 or L2) mode transmission will only shift from Low to 2nd gear. L stands for Low gear (First gear), when the Leaver is in L, it locks the transmission in first gear that allows maximum horsepower and torque.
