Particulate Matter (PM) is a mixture of particles and droplets in the air, consisting of a variety of components such as organic compounds, metals, acids, soil, dust, and allergens.
PM is made up of particles (tiny pieces) of solids or liquids that are in the air.
PM2.5 refers to particles with a diameter of 2.5 micrometres (μm) or less.
PM10 refers to particles with a diameter of 10 micrometres (μm) or less.
