Parotid Duct Transposition (PDT) is a surgical procedure that reroutes the parotid duct from its original location to a new location in the oral cavity.
The parotid gland is a major salivary gland located near the ear, and the parotid duct is the tube that carries saliva from the gland to the mouth.
Note:
PDT can also be used in veterinary ophthalmology to treat certain cases of dry eye syndrome in dogs.
In veterinary ophthalmology, PDT involves rerouting the parotid duct to the surface of the eye to provide a new source of tears.
