Out Of Phase Stereo (OOPS) is an audio technique used to process the two channels of modern stereo recordings into a new, third channel, enabling us uncover hidden sounds in stereo recordings. it works on the principle of phase cancellation, in which two identical but inverted waveforms summed together will cancel the other out. The resulting OOPSed signal is a single channel, mono signal.
