Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 is a law in India that aims to control the possession, use, and distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
NDPS Act is intended to control and regulate the production, distribution, and use of these substances in order to prevent drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The act defines narcotic drugs as substances that are derived from opium, or cannabis plants, and psychotropic substances as substances that affect the mental functions of a person.
