What does NC mean?

Normally Closed (NC) describes the default state of a switch or relay contact when there is no external force or power applied.

Note:
Normally Closed (NC) and Normally Open (NO) describe the state, or position, of contacts in a switch.
Normally Closed (NC): In its normal state, the circuit is closed, and current can flow through.
Normally Open (NO): In its normal state, the circuit is open, and the current cannot flow.
