McDonald’s (McD) is a global fast-food restaurant chain headquartered in the United States. The corporation was founded by businessman Ray Kroc in 1955 after he purchased the rights to a small hamburger chain operated by the eponymous Richard McDonald (Dick McDonald) and Maurice McDonald (Mac McDonald). The name “McDonalds” is from the name of the brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, who founded the first McDonald’s.
