Mikheyev–Smirnov–Wolfenstein (MSW) effect is a particle physics process which can act to modify neutrino oscillations in matter. It is named after Soviet physicists Stanislav Mikheyev and Alexei Smirnov, and American physicist Lincoln Wolfenstein.
