Memory Controller Hub (MCH), often referred to as the Northbridge, is a part of a computer chipset that manages data communication between the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Random Access Memory (RAM) and connects all the major components of the motherboard with each other.
It is called Northbridge because it is generally located in the northern section of the motherboard.
