Low Voltage Directive (LVD) are directives deals with the safety of electrical apparatus. It applies to all apparatus running on (or generating) an electrical supply with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current (ac) and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current (dc). LVD defines which products fall within its field of application, it provides the essential (safety) requirements that electrical equipment and components covered by it must comply with, and it outlines the conformity assessment procedure the manufacturer must apply in order to ensure compliance with the essential requirements.
