Long Branch Attraction (LBA) is a phenomenon that can occur in phylogenetic analyses, where rapidly evolving lineages can be incorrectly inferred to be closely related, even if they have distinct evolutionary relationships.
The problem can occur when the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) or amino acid sequences of two or more lineages evolve at different rates, resulting in long branches that can attract each other and cause incorrect grouping.
