Gigabit (Gb) is to a unit of digital information or data transmission speed. The prefix giga means 1 billion, which is equivalent to 1,000,000,000 or 109 bits.
Gb is commonly used to measure data transfer rates, such as internet connection speeds or network bandwidth.
Example:
Gigabit Ethernet connection can transfer data at a rate of 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps).
Note:
GigaByte (GB) and Gigabit (Gb) are different:
1 GB = 8 Gb
1 gigabyte is equal to 8 gigabits.
