GUID Partition Table (GPT) is a mechanism for partitioning a disk on a physical hard disk, using Globally Unique Identifiers (GUID).
GPT is designed to replace the older Master Boot Record (MBR) partitioning scheme, which is used in older Personal Computers (PC). One of the main advantages of GPT is that it allows for the creation of partitions larger than 2 Terabytes (TB).
GPT is supported by most modern operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux. However, it is not supported by some older operating systems, such as Windows XP and Windows Vista.
