Sarin (military designation: GB), also G-series, B, is a highly toxic organophosphate compound that was developed as a chemical weapon.
G-series nerve agents are a group of organophosphate compounds that were developed by Germany during World War II by a team of scientists led by Gerhard Schrader, hence the name G-Series.
The letter B in GB is simply a sequential number. The other G-series nerve agents are tabun (GA), soman (GD), and cyclosarin (GF).
