Young's modulus (E) is a measure of the elasticity or stiffness of a solid material. It represents the material's resistance to elastic deformation, or change in length when a load is applied along one axis.
Young's modulus is named after the British scientist Thomas Young, who first described the relationship between stress and strain. The term "modulus" comes from the Latin word "modus" which means measure.
