Direct memory access (DMA) is a feature of computer systems that allows certain hardware subsystems to access main system memory independently of the Central Processing Unit (CPU).
DMA is used by a variety of devices, including hard drives, graphics cards, sound cards, and so on. It allows these devices to transfer data to and from memory without having to involve the CPU, which can significantly improve performance.
The full form of DMA is Direct Memory Access
