What does CRT mean?

Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) is a specialized vacuum tube used to display images. It contains one or more electron guns as a source of electrons and a phosphorescent screen and magnetic field generating plates. The electron gun produces a beam of electrons that are deflected by means of the magnetic plates to strike the phosphorescent screen which in turn glows at the points of striking of the electrons.
Cathode rays are so named because they are emitted in a vacuum tube by the negative electrode or cathode. CRT was a technology widely used in traditional computer monitors and televisions.
