What does CRDI mean?

Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDI) is a variant of direct fuel injection for diesel engines. In CRDi, the common rail system accumulates high-pressure fuel in the common line (common rail) which is connected to all the fuel injectors. The fuel then injects into the engine cylinder at a timing controlled by the engine Electronic Control Unit (ECU), allowing high-pressure injection independent from the engine speed. This allows the fuel to combine with the air much more efficiently thus less waste fuel escaping the system unused and generates more engine power.
