Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) Test is a test that measures the amount of calcium in the walls of the heart's arteries.
CAC Test involves a type of rapid X-ray called a Computed Tomography (CT) scan to take cross-sectional images of the vessels that supply blood to the heart muscle, to check for the buildup of calcified plaque.
A higher CAC score means a higher chance of significant narrowing in the coronary arteries. The score helps the doctor to calculate the risk of developing Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) related events such as a heart attack.
