Bridge Protocol Data Unit (BPDU) are parts of the spanning tree protocol that transmit messages across a Local Area Network (LAN) to detect loops in network topologies. A BPDU contains information regarding ports, switches, port priority, addresses etc that allows switches to obtain information about each other.
